Product Description

ROCKFORD FOSGATE P3SD4-10 10" shallow mount subwoofer

The Rockford Fosgate P3S 10" shallow mount subwoofer delivers Punch, even in depth limited situations. Rockford Fosgate understands all vehicles are not the same, because some cannot accommodate deep subwoofers. In the past, that meant no Bass. Not anymore! Now even depth challenged vehicles can have REAL Bass and the Dual Voice Coil allow configurations for every application. Shallow woofers are specifically designed for spaces where a traditional woofer cannot be used.

Rockford Fosgate P3S 10" shallow mount subwoofer delivers “Punch” even when depth is limited. The P3SD4-10 features Dual 4-Ohm voice coils for wiring flexibility and 300 Watts RMS power handling.

Anodized Aluminum Voice Coil Former

Rockford Fosgate subwoofers use anodized aluminum voice coil formers that provide superior heat dissipation (up to 100° at full power levels). Unlike traditional plastic substitutions, aluminum acts like a heat-sink to quickly dissipate thermal build-up on the voice coil. This keeps subwoofers cool during high SPL conditions.

Two things generally happen when voice coils heat-up.

  1. They can generate heat close to the melt-down temp of their adhesive bonds which leads to eventual failure.
  2. Voice coil dc resistance increases and reduces SPL output.

Solution... Rockford Fosgate subwoofers use aluminum formers or voice coils for their excellent heat dissipation and SPL capabilities unlike many other plastic substitutes.

Stitched Tinsel Leads

Improved reliability and performance by reducing fatigue and possible shorting.

Multipoint "periodic" stitched lead wire technique reduces the mass of each tinsel lead and spreads stress and strain over a greater area, significantly improving the reliability and performance of the subwoofer.

These stitched tinsel leads withstand extreme duty cycles, fatigue and high current that is critical to robust design.

VAST Surround - Subwoofers

U.S. Patent Patent Pending

The Vertical Attach Surround Technique significantly increases a subwoofer's effective radiating cone area without complicated installation issues. The result provides up to 25% more effective radiating cone area for the same model speaker.

VAST™ significantly increases a speakers effective radiating cone area without complicated installation issues. This design alters the typical design and manufacturing technique by eliminating the large flat glue surface area (the landing) which allows the surround to be shifted for increased cone area. In turn, both nominal efficiency and maximum output capabilities are dramatically improved.

A hypothetical comparison of a 2004 Power T1 subwoofer vs. a VAST™ example:

The new patent-pending VAST™ technique is a result of combining a unique design concept with precise manufacturing to provide up to 25% more effective radiating cone area.

Flex Fit Basket - Subwoofer

The slot mounted frame pattern allows fine-tuning of the subwoofer's mounting position.

The Flex Fit frame utilizes slots (where feasible) instead of single screw sized holes. This allows slight adjustment of the speaker when mounted.

CEA-2031

Power handling on Rockford Fosgate speakers conform to CEA-2031 industry standards. This means your speaker has the capacity to handle power under continuous damand, not instantaneous power handling, that over time, can damage voice coils.
